DIY Skin Care Safety Rules

DIY skin care is very safe in most cases, but everyone’s skin is different. So, before we get started, some safety rules:

Be aware of food allergies

If you’re allergic to a food, don’t use it in a DIY skin care recipe. A good rule of thumb: If you can’t put in your mouth, you can’t put it on your skin.

If a homemade product burns or stings, rinse it off

Immediately remove the product with a gentle soap and water and rinse well.

If a product causes irritation, don’t use it again

Some exfoliating products can make your skin a bit pink after use. That’s generally OK, as long as it fades after a few minutes. If you have long-lasting redness, itching, rash, or any other irritation, toss that product and don’t use it again.
